Deskare & Ledger: a dive into the future of work

French unicorn, founded in 2014, Ledger is the leading platform for managing digital assets and Web3. More than 15% of global crypto assets are secured by Ledger Nanos. Based in Paris and Vierzon, with offices in London, New York and Singapore, Ledger has a team of more than 500 professionals who develop products and services that enable individuals and companies to securely buy, store, exchange, grow and manage crypto-assets - including the range of crypto wallets Ledger with more than 4 million units already sold in 180 countries.

As a fast-growing scaleup, one of Ledger's main challenges is to forge a culture that attracts and retains the best talent globally, especially in a post-Covid context where remote work is changing the game. This is the mission of the Culture & Workplace departments, which are responsible for creating a seamless hybrid work environment and a unique employee experience.

Carolyn Koch, Head of Culture & Internal Communications, and Réda Nafaa, Head of Workplace & Facilities, explain how Ledger is setting new standards in hybrid work culture, putting employee productivity and well-being first.

Ledger's hybrid policy: reconciling freedom and cohesion

In a post-pandemic context that has turned our way of working upside down, Ledger has designed its remote policy to give employees the freedom to choose their days in the office - whether in Portland, Paris, London, Geneva or Singapore - while maintaining strong ties within teams.

Ledger asks employees to be on-site two days a week, allowing them to work remotely for three days. While this is becoming the new norm, the engine of Ledger's hybrid policy paves the way for a new type of employee experience. Carolyn shares:

"At Ledger, hybrid work is no longer rooted in Covid. It's part of our culture, and it's here to stay. We want employees to have the freedom to work from home and design their own work style, but we're focused on improving the office experience. Ledgers don't come to work head down or to attend video calls all day. They come to connect, and we want to provide them with opportunities to do so, whether it's peer-led workshops, happy hours, wellness activities, or other events."

Ledger's vision of hybrid work therefore goes beyond the traditional scheme of a company-wide charter: its policy is integrated into the employee experience, thus eliminating frustration and wandering.

Exceptional workplaces using technology to foster social connections

More than just a debate about square meters, flex-office is really a question of human behaviour and managerial posture. At Ledger, the emphasis is on understanding the use of workspaces and how to create chance encounters.

Ledger uses the squad mechanism, a team that brings together employees from different functions, and is motivated by an in-depth analysis of office use. Réda explains:

"We design agile workspaces to bring people together like never before. We balance individual workstations and collaboration areas and focus on new ways of working, placing our employees at the heart of space creation."

This approach allows Ledger's Workplace department to consider and analyse the use of their flexible offices and integrate this data into their workplace strategy to design and create spaces that will bring people together.

How Deskare helps Ledger deploy its hybrid vision

Ledger was looking for a team and a tool to help them deploy this vision quickly and appropriately, and a partnership with Deskare quickly became obvious. After a few calls and the definition of specifications, Ledger made the decision to onboard the entire organisation in two weeks. Thanks to deep integrations with Ledger's tool stack (BambooHR, Slack and Google Calendar), the team behind Deskare was able to provide ultra-fast and personalised onboarding.

Plug and play from installation, Deskare is immediately accessible to employees who not only secure a safe seat in the office but can also easily meet their colleagues on site. Users also benefit from Deskare's connection with Slack and Google Calendar on a daily basis, which helps make Deskare a new habit. The adoption of the tool has been a great success and working with Deskare has become a new habit.

Finally, Deskare allows Ledger's Workplace and People teams to have comprehensive metrics and dashboards, as well as fully exportable data sets: these quantified analyses allow Ledger to rationalise all space-related issues with concrete and precise data.

The good news is, there's lots more to come! Ledger and Deskare are now working hand in hand to build the most powerful tool with new features delivered every week, and the collaboration is here to stay, so stay tuned!
